Seedstars’ alumni account for 275 startups. These companies have created more than 2,500 jobs and fundraised US$250 million. The follow-on funding rate of startups that Seedstars accelerates is over 40 percent, which is as high as TechStars or Y Combinator achieve.

Born in France, Alisée spent most of her life abroad, from living in Singapore and California to studying and working in Italy and Switzerland and completing humanitarian missions in Brazil and Cambodia.

After traveling around the world for a year to set up the first edition of the Seedstars World startup competition in 2013, Alisée has now managed competitions in more than 85 cities and has a physical presence in 15 strategic co-working hubs around the world.

She now has accumulated deep knowledge of trends in technology, social media, and consumer behavior in emerging markets. Alisée is a board member of the School of Management of Fribourg and a member of the Swiss National Innovation Council. She was nominated for the Social Entrepreneur Forbes 30 under 30, named an Innovation Fellow of Wired UK, 50 (Europe’s most influential women in the startup and venture capital space), and the 29 Powerful Women by Refinery29.

Alisée graduated from HEC Lausanne and obtained her Master’s in International Management at the Bocconi University (Italy) with highest honors. She was also a member of the Harvard Model Congress Europe, where she won the Award of Excellence.

Previously, Alisée worked as a product manager for luxury brands at L’Oréal Group and was part of the Italian team at Voyage Privé, a leading European startup.

After the outbreak of COVID-19, Alisée launched #SeedstarsCares, an initiative that facilitates discussions and forums via webinars, podcasts, and videos about the pandemic and other important world issues.

Alisée is a champion of startups around the globe. With Seedstars, Alisée has focused on the acceleration of entrepreneurship and small business building and innovation in emerging markets. Seedstars World is the largest global competition for start-ups in emerging and fast-growing startup ecosystems, connecting entrepreneurs with investors and grants worth more than US$1 million in investments each year.

“Our goal is to create the network for quality entrepreneurs around the world,” Alisée said. “And help entrepreneurs, accelerators, co-working spaces, and investors to interact with one another.” Seedstars’ activities cover over 80 emerging ecosystems through a variety of activities such as acceleration programs, events and trainings, physical hubs called SeedSpace, venture capital investments, and company-building activities. Seedstars has made over 50 investments in companies like Agrocenta (Ghana), Acudeen (Philippines), and Medsaf (Nigeria).

Having created 2,000 jobs, and made US$70 million in revenues, the multiplier effect of these startup successes should not be underestimated. “Impact can be profitable. Doing good can make money. And this is the generation that is going to reach the SDGs.”

This is the generation of entrepreneurs that will achieve the Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs), as much more needs to be done to boost impact investing and to accelerate entrepreneurs in emerging markets.
